The Water Company that owns the local dam wants to buy land from
local ranchers at fair prices. But Morgan (Morgan Conway), an agent of the
company, has ideas of his own, wanting to buy the rancher's land at much
lower prices then sell it on to the company for a fortune. To this end,
Morgan has secured the aide of banker Wheeler (Emmett Vogan), who is
supposed to not extend their loans and foreclose on the ranchers. Of
course, there's still judge Gleason (Forbes Murray) who could throw a
spanner into the works, but he is quickly killed off. And a culprit is
quickly found as well, the Nevada Kid (Don 'Red' Barry), a notorious
outlaw who just happens to pass through town and who is quickly
apprehended. Thing is that the Nevada Kid isn't what he seems but actually
a good guy (and agent of the Water Company) who has come to town to
investigate irregularities in Morgan's handling of the affair, and once he
has escaped his captured, he blows the whole thing wide open and convinces
the ranchers and the judge's lovely daughter (Helen Talbot) he's on their
side - and after much to and fro he drives Morgan, who has since killed
both his head henchman (LeRoy Mason) and banker Wheeler, out of town and
into a deadly accident. Wally Vernon plays the Nevada Kid's
Brooklyn-bred sidekick called Beauty. Average B-Western that despite not one
but two dam-explosions fails to generate too much excitement and ends in a
finale that's a bit underwhelming. Don 'Red' Barry is one of the better
leading men though, and Helen Talbot sure is pretty.
