Most of this film seems like a pictured meditation, as it takes us on
walks by the lakeside, through a surreal walk-in installation build
entirely out of scrap civilisation has tugged out (easily the most
visually impressive part of the short), through a Old West town replica,
takes us on a boat crossing the lake, and finally to some rather idyllic
cliffs and ponds. If you've got a bit of patience, this is a film to
really lose oneself in, and the only weird thing about it is the slightly
(though intentionally) discordant soundtrack that replaces on-location
sounds with monotonous reels that are slightly off - and only the ending
that does come as a shock explains why ... As mentioned above,
this movie demands a bit of patience - but that's fully intentional as
it's not a narrative film in the traditional sense of the word but
something more along the experimental lines of filmmaking, consisting only
of a handful of really long takes that really slowly drag one into the
mind of the invisible protagonist and make the ending much more shocking
as a process. Quite fascinating!
