Let's be completely honest here, in Western culture, psychedelic drugs
are largely frowned upon, and much of it is based on by now outdated
science and legislation built on it and prejudice - and this documentary
tries to repaint the picture of mind-enhancing drugs, but not in an
all-embracing way but by painting a very complex picture that also shows
the dangers (and how to avoid them) of stepping into a drug-fuelled realm
... ... and exactly for that, if you're an anti-drug person and
are set in your views, however narrow-minded they may be, then this film
is not for you, as it isn't so much a film that's blatantly pro
psychedelic drugs but one that makes you think about the topic, and really
also discusses the downsides. On a visual level, the film might bombard
one with (mostly kaleidoscopic) imagery one links to psychedelia anyways,
but it still fits the topic and really makes sense in connection with the
many interviews the film presents its viewer with. And while the movie
doesn't exactly drive you to partake in mind-enhancing drugs, it sure
makes you think about the topic in a more broad-minded way for sure.
