It's the last day of college before the summer holidays for a sextet of
archeology students, and they only have one more class to take - which
they take online via conference call, this way being not only the most
detached from one another and their professor but also from the subject
they're studying. But then a virus takes over all their computers, and a
madman appears on their screen claiming to have kidnapped their professor
and promising to only release him if they solve a series of increasingly
difficult riddles which have to do with the class they're taking, riddles
that resolve about early Christianity, including bible quotes and
interpretations, and Hebrew scripture. At first our students do very fine,
but the riddles get more and more vicious with each round, and there's a
clock to beat on top of that ... Now this might sound boring to
everyone who isn't into bible mysteries, and basically this is really just
a bunch of youngsters sitting in front of their computers trying to solve
riddles - but it's done in a very entertaining way, via colourful and
relatable characters and entertaining dialogue. And sure, the film lacks
the spectacle of The Da Vinci Code, which treads very similar
ground, it at the same time makes quite a bit more sense and without all
the sensationalism really makes its riddles palpable. And moving along at
a swift enough pace, and carried by a likeable cast, this is actually a
very entertaining movie.
