The stuff urban legends are made of: Decades ago, newly-weds had a
nasty car accident on a little traveled country road, and while the groom
died quickly, the bride (Victoria De Mare) survived pretty much unscathed,
went insane when realizing what had just happened, and nobody really knows
what became of her. But there are rumours she still haunts the very
country road that took her husband's life and kills all happy couples
passing through.
Melissa (Brooklyn Haley) is in the process of breaking up with her
boyfriend, and the boyfriend's brother Travis (Charles Chudabala) drives
her over to his place for her to return their engagement ring - and in the
car he confesses he has always had a crush on Melissa. And it turns out
Melissa has feelings for him as well. But as they make out, enter the
Bride, who's quick to do away with Travis, then she goes after Melissa -
but ultimately Melissa can convince her she's not happily in love but
about to return an engagement ring. The Bride retreats, but uses Melissa
as bait for other victims ...
Felissa Rose plays a barmaid and potential victim for the Bride,
Michael Wainwright her slightly naive cop husband.
This movie is actually a lot better than it ought to be.
Basically, the story lacks originality, it's just another urban legend
tale without adding anything new to the premise, and the writing is not at
all bad but serviceable at best - and yet it's a film that really has one
on the edge of one's seat, thanks to a very effective directorial effort,
a pretty creepy Bride makeup, and strong performances. Horror fans at
least are rather sure to enjoy this.
