Teenaged Rachel (Julianna Tully) wants to go to a metal concert wearing
a rather showy tank top - which her father (Joshua Jordan) strongly
objects to, insisting her to change into one of her nice dresses or just
not go to the concert. Being of an age where girls (and really kids in
general) feel unfairly treated about everything, Rachel makes up plan B,
to sneak out of the house in her tank top once her dad has fallen asleep
(which he usually does quite quickly once he's seated in front of the TV),
and the plan is really working quite nicely - but then Rachel sees her
sleeping dad holding an old photo of her with an inscription on the back,
which changes everything ... A very charming little film that
manages to tell a story that says something rather universal about
father-daughter relationships with lots of heart, basically because it
doesn't try too hard or too obviously to hammer its point across - and
maybe that's because it was produced by genre director Willy Adkins with
his two teenage daughters, one of whom co-directed the short with him,
which gives the film a much more balanced feel than one would expect from
a movie of its ilk.
