When Ozi (Adnan Siddiqui) & his wife Mumtaz (Ayeshah Alam) come back to Lahore from New York, they party with Ozi's best friend
Daru (Shahzad Nawaz), who takes a initial liking for Mumtaz. But after this night of
alcohol & hashish Daru is fired from his job at the, and at times
like this & not having the right connections, it seems impossible
for him to find a new one. It is (seemingly) a stroke of luck that he
can do some drug dealing for a friend (Amir Abbaz) who runs a rickshaw business as
cover-up. Then he sees Ozi causing a hit-&-run accident, with the
victim (literally) dieing in Daru's arms. When he finds Ozi unwilling to repent
this deed, he sees no more holds to starting an affair with
Mumtaz, who confesses to him her marriage to Ozi is unhappy. But Daru
also starts taking heroin & soon is beaten up badly for having sold
drugs to the wrong person. Once healed again, he sees himself in front
of nothing, even Mumtaz leaves him, so he decides to help his rickshaw
driving friend (Abbas) by robbing the very bank he was fired from. Even
though they have to kill a child, the bank-job goes well, but Daru's
still arrested - for the very same hit-&-run accident Ozi was
involved in, & gets 7 years of imprisonment. But still, all is not
lost, as his accomplice of the bank-job - a man of honour in his own
right - does keep the money for him. & then there'sMumtaz, who has
finally decided to split with Ozi ...
Superb epic story about the descent of a man from riches to rags,
accompanied by drugs, lust & crime, that actually manages to tell
this in itself rather depressing tale in a surprisingly entertaining way
without ever making the mistake to moralize along the way (& there
are opportunities aplenty), helped by a very flashy & modern
directorial style that keeps the tale at a fast pace.
