Angela (Nicolette McKeown) lives ssomewhere in the middle of nowhere
with her husband Eddie (Olly Bessl), who is a bit of a brute though and
rarely ever home, either working on the docks or losing money at poker.
And one rainy night, when Eddie's out again, there's a knock on Angela's
door, and it''s a stranger, Kevin (Nathan Shepka), who asks for abode to
dry up a bit, claiming his car has broken down a couple of miles up the
road. Angela lets him in, gives him dry clothes, some food even some
whiskey, even though she knows there's an escaped convict on the loose in
the area, and chances are it's him - why else would he evade her questions
and try to find out if her husband's coming home any time soon. Then a
policeman, Donny (Stephen Kerr), who's on the look-out for the convict,
stops by and she invites him in as well amd üretemds Kevin to be her
husband. Donny sees through the charade soon enough though - but Angela
has things going on in her house that don't really go well with police
meddling ... Now I will say this much, some of the twists and turns
are easy to guess - not the finale though - and yet, the film remains
tense and entertaining throughout thanks to sharp dialogue and poignant
delivery, thanks to a cleverly written genre script and two leads that
aren't only up to their roles but also have just the right chemistry to
make this work. And the constant blurring of the line between good and
evil is another factior tthat makes the film work quite so well as a very
enjoyable genre ride.
