40 years ago, powerful studio owner Otis Wilcox (John Content) was
executed for a crime he didn't commit - without even getting his last
meal. Now, talent-free movie director Bill Weston (Jay Richardson) wants
to make a movie about him. Two facts that make that special: 1) Bill has
pretty much stolen Otis' studio after his execution, and 2) Bill's wife
Julia (Michelle Bauer) - who has long made it her habit to cheat on Bill
with every stagehand she can get herself onto - is Otis' granddaughter. As
the movie is actually filmed in the prison Otis was executed at, he is
somehow unintentionally brought back from the netherworld, and now he
proceeds to kill pretty much everybody in sight in various gruesome ways.
And Bill doesn't even shut down the film because ... well, he's an
asshole. He ultimately gets squeezed to death by an elevator though. Eventually,
Otis gets his hands on Julia, who's the splitting image of his own wife.
He lets her live of course, and after she has explained to him what's
going on, he decides to discontinue his killing spree and instead take his
old studio back ... and hey, who'll ever notice another (killer) shark in
Hollywood? Rather lame horror comedy that pretty much lacks
each and any narrative buildup and instead basically consists of comedy
skits that eventually - and the comedy is of a varying but only rarely
very high quality. Add to this an at best functional directorial effort
devoid of suspense and/or atmosphere. Plus, not everyone in the cast is
not really up to the task. Sure, if you love (very) low budget 1980's
comedy horror, you will find a handful of spots to giggle about (maybe for
all the wrong reasons, even) - it's just not a good film!
