Maria (Callie Snow) is pissed - and has every reason to be: She has
just found out her best friend Destiny (Debbie D) is actually a vampire
mermaid, her partner Jason (James Panetta) has been vampirized due to his
involvement with Destiny, her sister Jade (Sure G!) seriously injured ...
and to top it all of, they have to find the psionic matrix of Atlantis
before Destiny's arch enemy Elena (Amira Lyn) does, otherwise the sun will
be turned into a dead star, ending all life on earth in the process. And
Elena has the notorious homeguard militia on her side, outnumbering
Destiny and company by a hundredfold in both manpower and arsenal - and
Destiny doesn't have the first idea how to even fight let alone win such a
war ... Basically, the pilot to this Destiny
the Vampire Mermaid series is above all else one thing: Fun!
The whole thing doesn't take itself more seriously than it deserves to
(after all, it's about a vampire mermaid, so how serious can it get?), but
the episode's carried by clever writing and poignant dialorue, the actrors
seem to be in on the joke and play it straight still, and the chemistry
between them is really there. And the thing's really well-paced, and just
makes you want to wish for more ...
