There's a knock on the door, but when Chris (Christopher Walker) opens,
there's nobody outside - and of course he totally misses the tiny stone
idol that sneaks into his flat. Chris though has problems of his own, like
trying to make up with a lover over the phone he has parted with on
unfriendly terms - so when he finally notices he's not alone in the house
and his new roommate is pure evil, it's already way too late ... Now
one thing just can't be denied, filmmaker Christopher Walker just loves
cult horror movies, it's not only that his flat (and vast DVD collection)
spell(s) it out in big letters, there are also plenty of Easter eggs in
the short, plus the film (its being shot digitally on his phone
notwithstanding) is pretty much reminiscent of the films of old in style
and story - and that's also to say it's a very effective little horror
thriller that really has its concept boiled down to the bones but is all
the more effective for it, as it really concentrates on creepiness rather
than losing itself in explanations and subplots. And that this film was
done during Corona-isolation, so with no additional cast or crew, just the
filmmaker himself, really speaks for Walker's talent, as the film
certainly doesn't feel like a one man show, just like good genre
entertainment.
