Somewhere on a Greek beach, The Divine One (Laura Gemser) runs The
Children of Light, a love cult that propagates free love, which
actually means having sex with everone (which also includes prostitution)
and monogamous relationships are stricly prohibited. The Divine One
actually relishes in flogging monogamous cult members.
The cult's best preacher is charismatic, pure and innocent Dorian (ex-Schlager singer Christian Anders ...
well, he's not really that charismatic,
he is just supposed to be), a blond, blue-eyed young man who's especially
appealing to the ladies. Thus it's no surprise that he also catches the
attention of young & neglected senator's daughter Patricia (Simone
Brahmann), and she soon can't think of anyone but him ...
But the cult runs into problems, mainly because the Divine One orders
all who want to leave the cult to be secretly killed by her musclebound
bodyguard Tanga (Sascha Borysenko), and the police start to suspect a
connection between the missing girls and the cult, they even smuggle in a
V-man, Gabriel (Gabriele Tinti), but eventually, Tanga finds out his true
identity and kills him too ... but not before Gabriel has raped the Divine
One (for no other reason than to have more sex scenes with Laura Gemser it
seems).
Eventually, the law has found proof against the cult, so, in a
desperate last effort, the Divine One organizes a big orgy with all her
followers, at the climax of which everybody - including herself of course
- is blown up.
But what about Dorian and Patricia, you might (or might not) ask ?
Well, they got away on time, and Patricia was never even touched by
another man, since Dorian has suddenly discovered the joys of a monogamous
lifestyle. But to not make it too easy for him, Dorian still has to fight
it out with Tanga, whom he in the end throws off the very same cliffs
Tanga threw off his victims.
In the late 1960's, early 1970's, Christian Anders was a successful
Schlager singer (Schlager = a very German variety of pop music, invariably
sung in German language, almost invariably from the very cheesy side of
the genre, and appealing mostly to older generations than the traditional
pop). In 1979 however, it seems the interest in his singing has vained, so
he tried his hand on producing, directing and starring in a martial arts
flick, Die Brut des Bösen, a futile attempt to establish himself
as a German Kung Fu star and a desaster on a quality level, the film
however has a certain so-bad-it's-good-ring to it, if for all the wrong
reasons.
Why Anders tried his hands on producing, directing, acting and fighting
(yes, he has a few martial arts scenes here as well) again 2 years later
for this piece of sleaze is left at anybody's guess, 'cause, as you might
have guessed from my synopsis, this is not a good film ... but that said,
it is a laugh riot that is best watched with beer. And hey, Laura Gemser
gets naked quite a few times, and that's certainly nothing to complain
about.
