Professor Jennifer Connelly (Molly Hanson) has developed a technology to
hack into other people's dreams - which could really be a breakthrough in
the fields of psycboanalysis - but in the wrong hands could also mean a
powerful weapon, as it also allows whoever's using the device to take over
other people's bodies while they're sleeping. Now this is to big a
temptation for not to try out herself. so she decides to slip into the
body of a stripclub waitress with a heart of gold, Candy (Hannaj Bang
Bendz), trying to make her life better. But since Candy is involved with
some quite unsavory guys, Jennifer seems to achieve just the opposite. But
during her out-of-body experience, Jefnnifer also discovers a side product
of her own invention, Adam (Luke J I Smith), a rather attractive guide
through the dream world, who quickly becomes the only one she can trust
after learning her fatherly mentor Bill (Gary Webster) is trtying to steal
her device and sell it off to a ruthless businessman to cover his gambling
debts. And suddenly it's Jennifer, mostly in Candy's body, who's the only
one who can prevent the disaster her device is bound to create if left
unchecked - but it's a task she's hardly equipped for ... Sci-fi
veterans Marina Sirtis and Glynis Barber pllay Bill's assistant and
Jennifer's patient/guinea pig, respectively. Now of course, for this
film to work, one has to suspend one's disbelief quite a bit - and then
some more. But if you're able to do that and enjoy the crazy ideas of this
movie for what they are rather than question them, you're in for a pretty
cool thriller with many properly wild twists and turns, plenty of action
and suspense, that's carried by a slick but not overpowering directorial
effort and relatable performances by all involved. Maybe not for
everybody, but a cool genre ride for all so inclined.
