Filmmaker Calvin (Calvin Morie McCarthy), his crew (Tim Coyle, Erik
Skybak) and actress Naomi (Maomi Mechem-Miller) want to shoot a
documentary about the Boogeyman, which has been spotted on farmer Jim's
(Jim Spence) vast land. However, the documentary seems to be doomed from
the start thanks to Calvin's overly big ego, Naomi's lack of talent as the
film's narrator and the whole group's inexperience as ghothunters - but at
least Calvin succeeds to get into Naomi's panties, however their
intercourse is cut short by the Boogeyman making an appearance - or was it
all just Calvin's imagination. However, Naomi disappears shortly
thereafter, and the guys' attempt to find her not only splits up the
group, they also find actual evidence of the Boogeyman - and find out
that's not necessarily a good thing ...
So ok, Evidence of the Boogeyman is a found footage
movie, so do expect enough shaky camera footage to make you seasick. That
said though, this isn't at all a bad movie as it's on one hand
character-driven, and on the other good at building up its mystery rather
than just dumping the audience into genre-typical situations, And the cast
all give relatable performances, really embodying their characters with
all their flaws to properly ground the film. So despite all the
shortcomings of the found footage approach, this is a very solid and very
entertaining genre ride.
