As a kid, Adam (Aaron Bernard) has seen his babysitter tickled to death
by the Tickle Monster. Now that he's all grown up of course, he knows
there's no such thing as the Tickle Monster - and yet, a sort of uneasy
feeling remains ... Adam's tough-as-nails girlfriend Greer (Laura Romeo)
is a tough-as-nails cop who time and again tends to follow her gut-feeling
and disregard all protocol to go undercover and capture a killer or two on
her own, risking not only her own life but that of whatever investigation.
However, so far she has also been one of the most successful cops of her
department. Pervert Billy (Michael McGovern) and his wife (Diana Silvio)
run a porn company specializing on fetish films for the internet - quite a
lucky break for Billy then, because he's into every fetish there is, but
particularly tickling and feet. One day, he accidently tickles his wife to
death - but due to the bizarre circumstances of this death, he's not only
let off the hook scot-free, he also rather unexpectedly inherits a large
fortune his wife has kept secret from him. He can now do whatever he wants
- and what he wants is tickle bare-footed women. Only during tickling, he
changes, becomes some sort of ... Tickle Monster - and invariably, he
tickles his models to death. He soon becomes more and more creative in
ways of how to kill his tickle victims ... Greer is investigating the
case of the Tickler, and it doesn't take her awfully long to pick up
Billy's trail. She decides to pose as a fetish model to win Billy's trust
- but soon finds her tied to a rack being tickled out of her mind
(literally) ... Greer's boyfriend Adam and her partner Leland (Angelo
Bruni) show up just in time to save her life, but Billy manages to escape,
only to later be found dead, with his heart ripped out. So could it be
the Tickle Monster really exists, and it hops from body to body? And will
the Tickle Monster return to Greer to finish what it has begun? Fetish
Dolls Die Laughing is, as the title might already suggest, bizarre. In
parts, it just plays like your typical cop drama, though there is always a
slightly ironic edge to it, but when it comes to the scenes involving
Billy the pervert/killer, the film gets enjoyably weird, in its sometimes
too blunt emphasis on bare feet, in its increasingly inventive ways of
tickling people to death, and in its yet again rather ironic approach to
its subject matter. And Michael McGovern as pervert Billy finds just the
right balance between likeable and sleazy to make one care for his
character. That most of his girls are pretty pretty doesn't hurt one bit
either, though. Word of warning for the voyeurs though: This film isn't
half as sleazy as the title and subject matter suggest, and there is no
actual nudity involved. For everyone else though, this is a quite
enjoyable, fun little movie!
