More by mistake than design, Mike (Tyson Brown) asks Kelsey (Shelby
Duclos), whom he has long had the hots for, out on a date - only to then
realize he has no car. And somehow his friend Brett (Josh Fesler) hooks
him up with Dennis (Scott E. Noble), who sells him a Chrysler from the
1960s that just about works. Thing is, unbeknownst to Dennis let alone
Mike, a fortune in drugs is hidden in the car, and soon not only a group
of hoodlums led by the Captain (Jesse Janzen) but also the police are on
his tail, and he really doesn't make it to his date until hours later when
his car has gotten confiscated by two corrupt cops (Nicole Berry, Samuel
Ademola) - but that's when things get really complicated, as the Captain
and his gang are convinced he and Kelsey can help them find the car, and
the situation gets even worse when they succeed, too, as things culminate
in a shootout where everybody takes shots at everyone ... This
film sure is great fun of the anything-goes variety, but it's saved from
being just a succession of good gags by a very well-structured script that
drives the plot stringently from one climax to the next, relying on
narrative logic more than the urge to pack as many punchlines as possible
into its running time. Adn thus, the movie also works as a thriller, which
is only emphasized by its well-handled scenes of action and violence. And
of course, a first rate cast help making this one really cool thriller
comedy.
