College freshman Francis (Tristan Szucs) has problems making friends,
so when Alex (Jake Braden) offers to take him along to a dinner at his
friend Ryan's (Mason Sheaves), he happily agrees, and tries his best to
blend in - even if that's not that easy, as he isn't really used to
alcohol, some of the conversation at the table goes above his head, a
puppet show two of the other guests put on is definitely on the weird
side, a party game takes a turn toward the gruesome, and the last shot he
has had was more than just hard liquor - and now things only start going
downhill ... Despite all the weirdness going on on screen, and
the horror finale, I dare say will connect with everybody who has ever
been to an awkward dinner party and/or overdrunk at one - and
statistically that's probably pretty much everybody at all. And the point
here is that the characters and the situation they get into are completely
relatable, and are played out in a fun way that always stays away from the
purely moronic. And thanks to a solid build-up the trippy and somewhat
grotesque finale makes total sense. Overall, good fun for sure.
