One of the Galactica's Vipers goes missing after a confrontation with a
Cylon ship, and since the scanner shows a ship of some sort crashing onto
earth in a matter of hours, Commander Adama (Lorne Greene) and child
genius Dr. Zee (James Patrick Stuart) figure it must be the Viper, and
thus call their earth agents Troy (Kent McCord) and Dillon (Barry Van
Dyke) to go to the crash site and try to hush things up. So the two leave
their space scouts in the care of their reporter friend Jamie (Robyn Douglass),
travel from LA to New York, preventing a hi-jack along the way, and
somehow make it to the crash site before the authorities to find the
crashed vessel not a Viper but the Cylon ship - which was apparently set
to self destruct mode, so it blows up before police and Air Force can
reach the site, and thus the ship can't be identified anymore. However
what's troubling, two Cylons survived the crash. And while one of them,
Centurion (Rex Cutter), is the typical Cylon metal head, the other,
Andromus (Roger Davis), is humanoid. And it's Halloween, so even Centurion
shouldn't look too out-of-place walking the streets. Fortunately, Troy and
Dillon can somehow track the two of them though. Now Andromus and
Centurion have hitched a ride with Norman (William Daniels) and Shirley
(Lara Parker) on their way to a Halloween party, and impressed by
Centurion's "costume" they're more than happy to bring them
along. At the party, Andromus and Centurion meet famous radio DJ Wolfman
Jack (himself), and being interested in getting a signal to the Cylon
mothership via earth radio, they create chaos at the party, kidnap Wolfman
Jack and force him to take them to his radio station. But before they can
send the signal, Troy and Dillon arrive on the scene, and in the ensuing
shoot-out on top of a high rise, Centurion and Andromus fall down the
building right into a dumpster, and a dump truck hauls them away before
the authorities arrive. Actually, this one is probably the best
(two-part) episode of Galactica 1980 so far: Sure, the first
part is full of fish-out-of-water and invisibility jokes that have already
gotten very tired during the show's run so far, but with part two the
chase for the Cylons sets in that sure has its tense moments and actually
does offer some excitement. And Roger Davis as humanoid Cylon sure makes a
good villain. So even if you're not into the series as a whole, you might
find yourself enjoying this two-parter at least.
