A man (John H. Shelton, voiced by Steve Pollard) misses his grandma
(Steven Chamberlain, voiced by Georgina Ragazza) so much that he tries to
contact her via a ouija board - but when the planchette starts to move on
its own, he gets freaked out a bit ... Our hero spends a restless night
after that incident, but blames it all on his nerves - unfortunately he
couldn't be more wrong ... Grand Macabre is a very nice
little mood piece that might tell nothing more than a very skeletal story,
but does so in an enjoyably atmospheric way, making perfect use of its
soundscapes and black-and-white photography, its lack of on-screen sounds
and clever use of title cards and voiceovers. Should you ever have six
minutes and crave for something spooky, this is a great way to spend them! ...
