Michael (Nicholas Clay), Ann (Mary Crosby) and their daughter Sarah
(Debbie Chasan) find themselves trapped in their house one day, inasmuch as
the house seems to be completely walled in, and all contact to the outside
world is broken off. Plus, it starts to get hotter and hotter, and a weird
liquid starts pouring down through the chimney. But as if that wasn't
enough, Michael and Ann suddenly start to question their existence because
they seem to suffer under extreme amnesia, and they realize that the logo
of a company they don't even know is on everything, even tattooed onto
their skin.
After numerous attempts to escape the walled in house and overcome by
heat, Michael, Ann and Sarah pass out ... when a little girl (Joanna
Joseph) takes her dollhouse out of the oven, where her mischievous little
brother has put it, and he has also put a chocolate bar onto the
dollhouse's chimney to melt and run into the house - because as it turns out, Michael,
Ann and Sarah are all just robotic dolls the girl likes to play with ...
Enjoyably surreal episode of Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense,
a series that normally is not big on surrealism, and an episode in which
the surprise ending is not given away way too soon (despite the title).
Very possibly the best and certainly most original episode of the series.
Recommended, actually.
