Last year, Hadley (Emma Reinagel) witnessed her boyfriend Kurt (Seth Sims)
stab somebody to death at a Haloween party, and it was only thanks to her
statement that he got arrested, even if her statement wasn't the whole
truth. Thing is, Kurt has only recently been released on a techincality
and has since made a disappearing act, and with Halloween approaching
again, it's considered likely that Kurt will try to have his revenge on
Hadey, which is really why everybody from her mom (Teri Austin) tho her
sheriff uncle (Mickey Stone to her sort-of boyfriend (Gragan Weldin) try
to prootect her it almost smothers her. And yee, people in her circle of
friends are being killed, so much so that for the local Halloween
festivities the police decide to use her as baid to lure Kurt out. But
what if it was never Kurt who did the killings in the first placfe but
womeone who only used Hadley's story to hide behind a false identity?
Now ok, narratviely this film isn't breaking any new ground, it's a
slasher through and though - but that said, at the same time the movie's
done very elegantly shot and very well writtenb for what it is, and it
does feature well constructed characters played by a competent cast, so
slasher fans will like this a lot. However, the film's ultimate saving
grace is lead Emma Reinagel, who even though she has written "final girl"
all over her gives such a nuanced performance one really cares for her
despite already knowing she'll survive. So in all, a pretty awesome genre
ride not only but also because of Ms. Reinagel's performance.
