High school students Hayden (Jaden Wesley Brown) and Payden (Angela Kuzel) fluunk their Brazilian history classes - and only a short time later, both turn up dead. Of course, this sounds like nothing more than a freak coincidence, because what else could it be - only, their best friends Jnayden (Rachel O'Day) and Kayden (Madeline Schichter) hear a voice out of nowhere talking to them, that of the spirit of Dom Pedro (voiced by André Santana), the Liberator of Brazil. Now he might give them vital clues to how their friends might have met their ends, only he talks Portuguese only (as he would), a language our heroines don't speak nor understand. Now that's creeoy enough as it is, but it gets weirder when they learn that their Brazilian history teacher, Mr. D'Ath is actually a master of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and probably also of hypnotism, something they would have never thought of that mild mannered man. Now what does this have to do with the deaths of their friends? Probably nothing, but it's all beginning to be just too big of a coincidence to ignore. And thus our heroines investigate some more, run into more and more bizarre people, and come up with some super-weird facts that all tie up in a most extravagant way. But while they hunt for the truth they must come to terms withthe fact that something's also hunting them ...

The Haunting of Prince Dom Pedro is a pretty unique film in the way it blends elements of murder mystery, horror, fantasy and coming-of-age story, and puts a decidedly ironic twist on things while never shying away from letting the imagination go overboard. The result is quite mad, but beautifully held together by its two fittingly bubbly main characters, embodied rather excellently by Rachel O'Day and Madeline Schichter, who really help to make this one a fun genre ride for sure.
