Darlene (Mighan Carrasquillo) starts her new job at doctor Healer's
(William McNamara) dream therapy clinic - and is never seen again. After a
few days that starts to worry her best friend Julia (Nikki Leigh),
especially since due to a non-disclosure agreement Darlene hasn't told her
where she's going to work at. So after a couple of days, she contacts a
cop friend of hers, Joe (Andrew Keegan), who has lost his daguther under
remarkably similar conditions, and comparing notes, the two find out that
Healer's name pops up in both cases. That said, this might be just a
coincidence, as Heaer's a known humanitatian and revolutionary therapist.
Still, Julia thinks it advisable to have a talk with the good doctor who
readily welcomes her even, and he eventually reunites her with Darlene -
whose task it is to act as Healer's patients' adversaries to have them act
out whatever violent fantasies they have on her, even if Darlene gets
seriously injured or even killed in the process. Of course, now that Julia
knows the truth, doc Healer can't let her go again ...
Now I will admit that the concept of Healing Towers
needs quite a bit of good will and suspension of disbelief to land with
its audience, it's just a bit too outlandish in its understanding of
psychology to be taken at face value. But that out of the way, this is
actually a pretty effective thriller with all the suspense and jump scares
in all the right places, made all the creepier as its carried by the
undeniable slick charm of William McNamara as the film's central villain.
