A horror filmmaker (Jason Impey) is roaming the countryside, and one
who has the particularly nasty habit of killing those unfortunate enough
to cross his path, because he's very much into realism. For his grand
finale, he also holds a girl (Colette Green) hostage, next to a dying man,
for added emotional impact. However, the filmmaker grows bolder all the
time, and as is shown in the fights he gets into, he's anything but
unbeatable, even if his complete ruthlessness gives him an advantage most
of the time. But eventually, he lands in the hands of the police, and as
he's a filmmaker longing for fame, he confesses the heck out of himself -
but even the interrogating detective (Alan Impey) could not have
anticipated his ruthlessness ... Home Made is anything
but a perfect film: It's highly episodic, lacks dramatic buildup, most of
the characters lack depth or are too much alike, and even character
motivations are short in supply. That said, it's not a bad movie per se, it
does show a filmmaker with absolute promise (on which he later delivered,
too): It's very elegantly shot for a no-budget movie, features cool action
scenes, is well-edited and has a certain slickness to it. Again, it's far
from a perfect or even particularly memorable film, but it's not without
interest nevertheless.
