Tony (Andrew Thomas) and Amy (Logan Wallace) are a couple of ghosthunters
with their own podcast - but truth to be told, their glory days are behind
them and the chemistry they might have had in earlier days is long gone,
so they decide to call it quits - but end their show on a bang, spending
the night at the long abandoned house of a serialkiller, Lester, that
might still be haunted by the spirits of his victims - or even of himself.
And what they, together with their crew (Stuart Maxheimer, Dylan DeVane,
Cashmere Moniqué) find is promising indeed, including a secret torture
chamber the authorities failed to discover, and a sick snuff tape made by
Lester himself. So they're surely in for a stomach-turning night - and
that's before they find out the house is actually haunted, by none other
than the spirit of Lester himself. And Lester's not done torturing and
killing yet ...
Now one thing up front, even if my synopsis might read like it, this is
not a found footage movie - and the film fares all the better for it, as
it's a very exciting and well put together horror trip that makes up for
its presumably modest budget by clever filmmaking, an emphasis on supense
and atmosphere, but also shocks aplenty. And also thanks to a small but
strong ensemble cast, this is a film that genre fans are bound to love.
The House on Haunted Grounds will be released later in the year on
Bloodstream. In the meantime, feel free to watch the trailer at
