A few years ago, Gwen (Kellie King), a basically harmless housewife, was
killed by two home invaders (TKO, Patricia Reynoso) who tricked themselves
into her house banking on her big heart. But that's in the past, and since
Gwen's house has been re-modeled into an AirBnB - and basically just
the place Iris (Naomi Williams) needs as she has a job interview in the
area. And she doesn't come alone but brings her boyfriend (Eric Hardyway)
and a befriended couple (Neidra Bartley, Malcolm Montgomery) with her for
a little partying on the side. And party they do - until they all, on
different occasions, witness Gwen still haunting what's essentially her
place ... Now I don't think anybody will accuse The House on
Hill Street of an abundance of roiginality - heck, even the title
is a bit on the generic side -, but that's not to say this isn't
still a rather enjoyable haunted house flick, it features a cast of
dedicated actors playing a cast of relatable characters, the resident
ghost is spooky especially for its low key quality, and the film flows
nicely and with its hardly over an hour runtime doesn't outstay its
welcome. So no masterpiece, but at least a good genre watch.
