A man (Bill Oberst jr) has fond the perfect way to get rid of his wife
(Anita Nicole Brown), to poison her bedside candle - basically because
once she's found dead, all evidence will have gone up in smoke. And
really, he's not caught for the crime, in fact nobody even suspected
anything but a natural death. A perfect crime, really - well, if it wasn't
for the murderer himself ...
A very nice Edgar Allan Poe adaptation that, following the writer's words
in Bill Oberst jr's monologue, doesn't try to follow the narration too
much or in any great detail but rather chooses an associate approach
that's apparent in many of Poe's writings (including this one) as well,
this way supporting the narration rather than just duplicating it. And
director Domenic Migliore sure creates impressive enough imagery to do so,
while the ever dependable Bill Oberst jr gives a suitably creepy (mostly
voice) performance to bring the story to morbid life - and all of this
combined adds up to pretty much a must-see to at least all Poe
afficionados.
