Some shady gouvernment-funded organisation has used dinosaur DNA to create a velociraptor that's also invisible and is thus trained to be the ultimate weapon. Of course, things like this always go wrong pretty quickly, and as soon as the raptor is well-enough trained he plays a trick on the two scientists (Sean Astin, Bobby Gilchrist) training him and escapes. And soon enough, it has made its way to a small town where it kills a little boy (Luke Speakman), a murder that has the local police baffled - especially since the raptor has taken a huge dump in the boy's bedroom. Fortunately, the town has its own dinosaur park where a washed up paleontologist, Grant (Mike Capes), works as a presenter, and he's quick to identify the raptor feces as ,,, well, raptor feces. Thing is, nobody believes him. So it's ultimately up to him to hunt the raptor down, aided only by the dim-witted security officer of the dino park (Dave Shackelford), his love interest (Caitlin McHugh) and a chicken farmer who believes it's all a big gouvernment conspiracy. But how do you hunt something down that's at least as vicious as it is invisible?

Or course, the first thing one is almost bound to suspect when reading the title The Invisible Raptor is probably that the filmmakers only rendered the raptor invisible because they couldn*t even hope to afford decent raptor effects on the budget they were working on - and in parts that's quite possibly even true. That said though, the film makes the invisibility of its creature a focal point of the story - plus it doesn't take itself at all seriously, being apparently aware of the ridiculousness of its premise and playing it for laughs. And in many instances the film is really funny, often thanks to well-placed genre tropes, but also thanks to some witty dialogue and fun performances - but that said, this film also gets really gory when it needs to be. So in all, this is actually a pretty hilarious genre ride, so if you take your creature features with giggles on the side, then this one's definitely for you.
