Gentaro (Shoji
Ishibashi), agent for Professor Tsushima, and Iron King,
Gentaro's giant robot buddy who unbeknowest to Gentaro is really his klutzy
colleague Goro (Mitsuo Hamada), save a nun and the children in her
care from Toragilas, yet another giant robot/monster of the Phantom
Militia, this one looking very much like Godzilla
on a budget, but with a retractable missile launcher on its back.
Once nun and kids are saved though Gentaro acts very unruly towards the
nun, Shoko, and he even kisses her ... which makes Goro act as her knight
in shining armour, and ultimately the two fall out - when the Phantom
Militia attacks again and kidnaps one of the nun's kids. Of course,
Gentaro and Goro free the little boy, but they are still at odds with each
other, so when Toragilas attacks once more and Gentaro storms into battle,
Goro refuses to help him and it's only thanks to the persuasion of Shoko
the nun that he finally interferes (as Iron King) and destroys Toragilas
once Gentaro is out.
During the episode, there are several allusions that Goro has fallen in
love with the nun.
As ever so often, the melodrama of this episode is somewhat tedious ...
but wacky monster Toragilas once again makes up for most of the episode's
shortcomings - that is, if you like wacky giant monsters done on the
cheap.
