Gentaro (Shoji
Ishibashi), agent for Professor Tsushima, and his klutzy colleague Goro
(Mitsuo Hamada), who unbeknowest to Gentaro is really the giant robot Iron
King, investigate the crash of an airplane, in whicht he father of Kazuko
died. However, before he died, he claimed to have been attacked by a giant
bird - only nobody believes this, nobody but Gentaro and Goro that is, who
suspect the giant bird to be a giant robot controlled by the Shirunai Clan led by Taro (Shinzo
Hotta) ... and of course they are right, it's Monster Bird, the jet robot.
Soon enough, Gentaro and Iron King (who can fly in this episode) take on
Monster Bird, and chase him away for the time being.
With Monster Bird gone, Gentaro and Kazuko soon fall out because he
refused to save some vilalgers from a burning house while he was in the
middle of a fight, which he claims was necessary but she insists it was
just cold-hearted. It's only when she sees how he distances himself from
anyone else so as to not endanger them (as he is the Shirunai Clan's prime
target) that she rethinks he attitude towards Gentaro.
The ending of course sees Gentaro and Iron King take on Monster Bird
once again, and this time destroying him in the process ...
Average episode.
If you enjoy childish Japanese giant robot shows (I know I do) you'll
probably like this one.
