William (Michael Carr) and Luke (Russel Friedenberg) are traversing the desert on foot with no particular destination when they're picked up by Mike (Christopher Kriesa), who at first seems nice enough - until he pulls a gun on them and pretty much promises to kill them later on. Sure, they try to make escape after escape, they're just not all that good at it, and ultimately it's thanks to a chance acquaintance who's packing, Joe (Joe Cook), that they manage to escape their almost certain death. But Joe's rescue leaves them without a ride, so they walk to the lone diner in a one-horse town in the middle of nowhere to discuss futher plans and have some food and drinks. And William falls undyingly in love with the place's waitress, Geena (Kimberly Liebe). But there's something weird about Geena ...

Jeff (Hank Stone) and Nicolas (Harvey J. Alperin) traverse the dessert collecting souls for Togaio (Matthias Hues), otherwise known as the Devil. They're just really not very good at it. And yet, they eventually find who Togaio has been looking for for centuries now, a half-woman/nalf-demon - Geena. And when Togaio and company turn up outside the diner she's working at, on the exact day William and Luke have made it there, one can be sure that this is going to end in a big and bloody mess ...

Now Legion of the Dead is not a film without precedence, from Dust Devil for its road movie approach to horror and general location to From Dusk Till Dawn for its finale and tone to Dogma for its humour and religious allusions, but that's not to say Legion of the Dead is just a copycat movie but rather pretty cool genre entertainment in its own right, a film with enough violence and gore to satisfy any hardcore horror fan but also plenty of comedy to cross over to more mainstream territory and even plenty of heart. And an elegantly grungy directorial effort and a competent cast only help to make this a very worthwhile genre entry.
