Painter Rob's (Mike Zaller) exhibition is to lauch tomorrow, and he's
dribing his gallerist Eddie (Xander Penot) crazy as he has so far failed
to deliver his last painting, which is to be the show's centerpiece. Not
trusting Rob's empty promises anymore, Eddie stops by his studio to pick
up the painting - only to find out that the picture's not ready, Rob
hasn't even begun to work on it. Furthermore, the man is in bad health and
a worrying mental state, culminating in him eating his own paint. So it's
not at all surprising the two men start to quarrel - until Rob tips over,
dead, with the official cause being declared paint ingestion. But it soon
turns out Rob is a true artist through and through who doesn't even let
death stop him from delivering the show's centerpiece ... Now for
the most part, this is of course an actors' movie, with both leads
delivering standout performances while playing very well off of one
another. The final twist though elevates this movie above just another
dialogue piece and gives the short an unexpected but welcome macabre note
and a
Twilight Zone-vibe
- and this really is what makes this one such a winner and a worthwhile
watch.
