It's mating season in buck country, and it's the first time young buck
Alex feels the urge to actively participate - and judging from his antlers
alone, he's quite an impressife specimen, which is why he has set his
sights on pretty Jessica, and he's confident he'll win her over, too - and
then he crosses paths with Mortimer, another young buck only slightly more
experienced than himself who wants to claim Jessica as well ... and of
course, before long the two bucks cross antlers, and Alex manages to put
his rival into his place. There's just one problem, once their antlers
have been locked, they don't manage to untangle them and are thus bound tp
one another, a situation neither of them enjoys. Eventually, the two of
them go to a water hole to have a sip - when Alex kills Mortimer to get
rid of his rival for good. Only he doesn't, the dead buck is still stuck
to his antlers. That night coyotes attack, attracted by the stench of the
dead buck, and they basically gnaw away Mortimer's body - only his head is
still stuck to Alex by the antlers. Of course, it's still mating season,
and Alex is horny as heck - but who'd want to mate with a buck with a
rotting head stuck to his antlers? Now sure, above synopsis makes
this film sound like a perfect one-trick-pony, a guy stumbling over his
own exaggerated ambition (read horniness), with the expected results. And
while the short is indeed that, it's also much more, as it's partly based
on the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, who's often directly quoted, and
also includes an over-abundance of allusions to the
Addams Family and has a rather hypnotic design to it
- actually AI generated imagery in the style of painter Vanessa Steinhilb

quite an unusual but very worthwhile movie for sure.
