Josh (Jacob Yong), his wife Kat (Nadia Bjorlin), Sydney (Toby-Alexander
Smith), his wife Louisa (Hana Vagnerová), and Sonia (India Thain) and her
boyfriend Devin (Simon Cotton) have all been friends pretty much for life
- well, except for Devn, who only recently got together with Sonia -, and
since they're all well-to-do they've decided to rent a castle somewhere in
Europe for a friendly get-together. Everything goes great the first
evening of course, but the next morning, Sydney's found knocked out in the
wine cellar while Louisa cannot be found at all - until her dead
body's found in the covered up hot tub. Now fortunately, the castle
belongs to Francesca Carlyle (Joan Collins), who runs the most popular
true crime show on TV, and she volunteers to help solving the crime. Now
that said, her means of investigation are unconventional and she keeps her
cards tight to her chest, causing all the involved (the logical circle of
suspects) trying to implicate one another, to the point where it's
revealed that not all of the involved were as faithful to their partners
as they should have been, and even within the group some might have had
extramarital affairs. So in a word, everyone's a prime suspect - and then
Kat dies to, in a car accident that's just too convenient for some to be
an actual accident ... Now there's nothing particuarly new
about this movie, it's a whodunnit set in an "old dark house" (if not
literally) with a limited number of suspects but enough plottwists to make
one's head spin - and that's exactly what makes this film so much fun, as
yes, it's old-fashioned in approach for sure, but sure knows how to spin a
good yarn and keep the audience engaged, solid performances, a great
anchor in Joah Collins (who by the way looks amazing for being in her 90s,
and the result is just a great piece of genre entertainment.
