Gwen (Molly Bernard) is a well-to-do art student in New York City with a nice studio and obvious talent - and yet she suffers from loneliness, and her social awkwardness and sexual fantasies about her art teacher (Aaron Costa Ganis) don't help at all in that respect - and it's really only during her daily runs through Cental Park that she truly feels herself. Then one day she meets Hilary, one of the regulars in the park selling beads and trinkets who's just oozing with positivity despite having very little to call her own, and the two become fast friends. It's not long before she also meets Hilary's attractive and charismatic boyfriend Zephyr (Luke Nieves), and when she hears the two are currently between apartments, she's more than happy to let them live with her for a while. As a thank you, they start selling her paintings in the park, and make a far better job than she could have ever done. In a way, the two seem to be a Heaven sent, and it looks as if things could only get better from there - if it wasn't for her old insecurities that threaten to have things come crushing down hard ...

A rather touching drama that's first and foremost a deep dive into its lead character Gwen, telling the story from her point of view, and this way sometimes obfuscating what's actually real and what's just a figment of her imagination, wishful thinking or sexual fantasies. And the film achieves this by giving its mostly down-to-earth Manhattan locations an often dreamlike feel, a fantasy-like atmosphere, that's though grounded by solid, relatable performances by the three leads. In all, this is a fascinating journey that's well worth a look for sure.
