Bosco (Lim Yin-Sing) has entered the UK from Hong Kongas an asylum seeker, and soon finds out this isn't as easy a job as it was made out to be. Now at least he finds a home for asylum seekers where he makes friends from all nations, and he gets a little bit of gouvernment money, though hardly enough to afford himself literally anything. Eventually he meets Yasmin (Yu Tsz Wing), another asylum seeker from Hong Kong roughly his age, and the two strike up a friendship, somehow based on their similar experiences. Eventually, he even finds a job at a car wash, where he, a trained mechanic, is a more than welcome addition. But that said, he's not actually allowed to work until he's granted asylum, So eventualy, he gets in trouble with the law as a result of a group of unemployed skinheads attacking the place out of misguided frustration, and is now under threat of losing his asylum status and being sent back to Hong Kong. What's worse, he has over time fallen head over heels in love with Yasmin, but she can't get over her boyfriend who's in prison back home ...

A touching drama set among asylum seekers that works so well because it never reduces htem to just that, asylum seekers, but gives them their individual backstories and motivations, doesn't favour politics over actual storytelling or message over art. Now add to this a suitably subtle directorial effort and a relatable ensemble cast, and you get a film that's entertaining as well as touching, and that's well worth a watch.
