Miles (Chris Maher) is an astronaut, due for his first launch into
space - much to the dismay of his wife Stella (Natalie Vester), who's
terribly worried that something bad might happen. This of course is based
on nothing more than a gut feeling, and it's nonsense, what bad could even
happen, this is just a routine mission. But of course, then something bad does
happen and Miles just perishes in outer space without a trace. Fast
forward 20 years, and without any explanation Miles is back, and for him
the time has passed like the blink of an eye. Problem is, everything on
earth has moved on, nothing's the same like 20 years ago anymore -
including Stella ... A nice short sci-fi/romance that manages
to strip its core story of all the frillings, from scientific gobbledegook
to backstory to merely focus on the film's emotional core which is undying
love - and it works, too, since the direction is subtle enough to keep
things level-headed and not go all sappy, while the actors give
down-to-earth, relatable performances that make the film feel real despite
its far-fetched premise. And all of this combined makes this one a pretty
compelling watch.
