Diane (Peggy Maley) is the only survivor of an expedition, while all her
companions died a mysterious death. Thus she is thought by the Suwa warriors to
be a shhe-devil, & the chieftain of the Suwas, Amamou, personally wants to
get the girl from Ramar of the Jungle (Jon Hall), under whose protection she
presently is.
Of course, Ramar does not believe she is a she-devil, or that she killed her
companions, for that matter, so he devices a plan to lure the real killer out
into the open, which involves himeslf & his manservant Willie (Nick
Stewart) parading through the jungle with Willie (very unconvincingly)
disguised as Diane. & really, the real killer swallows the bait &
attacks them with his weapon of choice, a Bola - basically 2 sandbags on a
wire, that, when thrown correctly, can strangle a person to death, which would
account for the mysterious deaths of Diane's companions. But fortunately,
Ramar's colleague professor Ogden (Ray Montgomery) has followed close behind
with the Suwa chieftain, & they can save Ramar & Willie from being
strangled to death & stop the killer - who turns out to be Mailpouch (Ford
Rainey), a
crooked timber trader killing his clients for their money.
Very muddled jungle mystery, that has one guessing the killer way too soon,
while the whole set-up is just too unconvincing - neither the lethal timber
trader nor a whole tribe afraid of a woman nor the sandbags on a wire that
strangle people without leaving marks manage to come across with any amount of
believability..
