It's one of these episodes where the entire cast is locked in somewhere
an emotionally bonds with each other - a storyline that in itself promises
kitsch galore (& in this respect, the episode doesn't disappoint).
The story: Because his former best buddy Lister (Craig Charles) is way
too nice to new crewmember Kochanski (Chloe Annett) - he even shows his
sensitive & mature side -, robot Kryten (Robert Llewellyn) sabotages
both the power supply and the emergency power supply, which forces the
whole Red Dwarf crew - Lister, Kryten, Kochanski & Cat (Danny
John-Jules) - to climb through the service ducts ... and Lister's
claustrophobia breaks out.
& even though the Red Dwarfers have only limited time to get to the
power supply room, and there are dangers along the way, all they seem to
do is talk, & in the end, Kryten admits his fault & shows the Red
Dwarfers a shorter, more direct way ...
Another big disappointment in the disappointment-rich seventh season of
Red Dwarf: A serious lack of comedy (the only real funny
scene has Kochanski complaining about the pipes squeaking out of sequence)
is (not) made up by an abundance of emotions-laden dialoguethat should
theoretically give insight into the characters - but instead presents the
viewer with nothing but tried-&-true clichés.
Boring.
