For some reason, innocent but hardened-by-circumstances girl Donna (Gloria
Castillo) goes on a date with small-time-crook Vince (Edd Byrnes - immediately
before he came to fame as Kookie in 77 Sunset Strip) after
he has beaten up her abusive uncle (Jack Kruschen), only to find out he's
taking her out in a stolen car ... & soon the police is on their heels too,
& on his escape Vince runs over a passer-by before abandoning both car
& girl ... & she is thrown into the reform school, but however, she
won't squeal.
In the school, after getting the usual treatment reserved for every new bird
by the other inmates, she soon catches the attention of new teacher &
psychologist Lindsey (Ross Ford), who's convinced she is actually a good girl
who has been dealt a rough hand ...
Soon Donna sort of settles in, & she even finds a boyfriend in Jack
(Ralph Reed), a boy who works at the neighbouring lumber business & who
knows a way to come in to date her.
When Lindsey one night witnesses Donna, & her friend Ruthie (Jan
Englund) sneaking off to a date woth Jack & his friend Dannie, he decides
not to spill the beans to the schools head Mrs Trimble (Helen Wallace), instead
persuades her to throw an official party for the girls, & invite local boys
to it too.
Everything seems to look bright for Donna, but of course fate soon strikes
when Vince - on the outside - becomes increasingly nervous that Donna will
squeal after all, so he has Donna's friend Josie (Luana Anders) sent to prison
too, & makes it look as if Donna had squealed about her ... which soon
makes it look as if Donna was a stool pigeon, & from there on she is not
only treated with disrespect by the other inmates, but even physically
attacked. & Ruth, the only girl willing to help her, soon receives injuries
that send her to the infirmary as a thanks for it.
In desperation, Donna steals some scissors as a defensive weapon, but when
she really uses them, she is only sent to solitary confinement for it ... very
much to the liking of the other girls, led by Josie, who have long made up a
plan to reunite her with Vince, so he can finally get rid of her ...
& Vince has already met up with Jack & forces him to help him to get
onto the school grounds unnoticed with a knife. But of course, Jack, the good
boy, won't deliver his girlfriend to this no-good delinquent just like that
& at a convenient monment disarms him & gives him a sound beating until
the cops arrive ...
... & thanks to Lindsey, Donna is relieved of all her charges & can
now look into a brighter future with Jack.
Juvenile delinquency-/prison-melodram in typical 1950's drive-in style, so
of course despite its smober topic it can't be taken too seriously, instead
puts more emphasis on action, catfights, & teenage romance. IT's some
fun though, maybe just because of that.
