Roommates Jimmy (Ben Kunec) and Zak (Youseff Baddar) have both lost their
jobs, and Covid lockdowns don't really help in finding new ones - and
stuck to their apartment they're bored out of their minds. So Jimmy has an
idea, to make a cross country trip to pay a visit to Courtney (Leigh
Yenrick), the girl he has always had a crush on - until she moved away
that is. Now it has to be said, Jimmy and Zak don't have all this much
experience when it comes to going on long car trips, so eventually their
car runs out of gas in the middle of nowhere, then they steal money from a
drug dealer (Kane Anderson), have their car stolen, eventually steal it
back, and so on and so forth, but ultimately they make it to Courtney's in
one place - only for her to introduce them to her new boyfriend (Brad
Hashim). And things go downhill from there ...
A very likeable mix of stoner and road trip comedy, likeable because it
downplays its eventual absurdness and keeps things grounded and
believable, while the characters remain relatable throughout despite their
at times crazy adventures and clearly wrong choices. Now add to this a
solid ensemble and a low key directorial effort and you find yourself with
a film well worth a watch.
