Ever since his parents left him in charge of their boss master Dao and
perished in the line of duty, little Tiger wanted to become a travel
guard, just like them. And if there's something he's really good at, he's
a fast runner, so Dao is happy to let him run errants every now and again.
Thing is, Tiger also has a talent to get into trouble, sometimes at the
expense of everything else. So master Dao is about to cut him loose -
which is when one of his clients asks for Tiger especially after holding
his own against Black Bones and the Dark Fury organisation. And the offer
Dao receives is beyond what he could turn down realistically. But since
Tiger's only 11 years old, Dao teams him up with Yang, once a hero who has
since taken to drinking. And at first, neither Tiger nor Yang are happy
about their respective other, but their adventures together soon make them
value one another's strengths - and with what Dark Fury is to throw onto
them, they really have to depend on one another before too long ... Now
to call Run Tiger, Run! a masterpiece would be taking things too
far, since the film mostly relies on genre tropes of martial arts cinema
and beyond. to tell a story that's not all that unusual. But that said, Run
Tiger, Run! is also a lot of fun, film that might be a bit predictable
but uses this to rush the audience from one action setpiece to the next,
but not without forgetting its characters and character arcs, which all
ultimately results in a very entertaining piece of genre cinema.
