Professor Dorian (John Karlsen) runs a posh insane asylum, primarily for rich
women with homocidal or suicidal tendencies, with a nymphomaniac, Ann (Rosalba
Neri) thrown in just for good measure. But the asylum seems to be run rather
weirdly, as one of the doctors, Angelica, Dorian's own daughter, is a raving
lesbian, another doctor, Keller (Klaus Kinski), has an affair with one of the
patients, Louise (Margaret Lee), & furthermore, Dorian sees no problem to
have several vintage but functional weapons plus an equally functional iron
maiden on display amidst allthe homicidal girls.
So it is only a questin of time before a maniac starts borrowing these
weapons (including the iron maiden) & using them for killing people.
The body-count has already risen to five though before anybody notices a
killer's on the loose - but who could it be ? Dorian himself, who for some
reason has destroyed all possible clues before the police arrives ? Doctor
Keller, who has no alibi for each of the murders, & is furthermore played
by Klaus Kinski, so he just has to be suspicious ? Any one of the patients ?
Who knows. Anyway, Dorian, Keller & the cops decide to set up a
particularly stupid trap for the killer, involving Louise as bait, & they
really manage to lure the killer into the open, who turns out to be ...
Louise's husband, who wanted to get rid of her to gain control of her
businesses, & killed the other 5 persons just for a diversion. He is kept
from killing Louise though, but will not go down without a fight, 6 while
escaping he brutally kills a bunch of nurses before he is shot by the police
...
Rather stupid giallo with way too many characters for way too little actual
plot, & the lack of story is tried to be made up by including some mild
sleaze scenes & some unmotivated brutality. All in all though a rather
unremarkable & forgettable little movie.
