Damon (Oise Ohiwrei) has always had a bit of a strained relationship to
his father Derek (David P.B. Stephens), as while dad takes good care of
him financially, he has the habit of disappearing for a weeks or months
even without prior notice, and he never talks about his job. But Damon is
18 now, and determined to get the truth out of Derek. But instead of just
telling him what he does, Derek takes Damon to a meeting with James Cross
(Timothy J. Cox), an industrialist with ambitions to become mayor, whose
political campaign Derek is to get on track - and for quite a bundle of
money, too. Thing is, Derek doesn't look as if he's exactly in PR, so how
could he be of service? And when ultimately Derek asks Damon to break into
the house of a certain person of interest's house and install a small
device into the place's shower head, Damon begins to suspect his dad's
work might not exactly be on the legal side of things ... A
cool little movie that takes what's pretty much thriller staple and puts
it into a very unexpected context - a boy trying to mend the relationship
to his father - and actually gets it right, too, thanks to a self-ironic
approach to the story that never veers off into comedy though. And a genre
savvy direction and a very competent, relatable cast make sure to deliver
very entertaining, highly original entertainment.
