Walking home alone one night, Vanessa (Kara Schaaf) notices that she's
been followed. But that someone who follows her (Tyler Gallant) is good at
hiding in the shadows every time she looks behind - so without knowing
what's behind her she gets a little alarmed ... and she well should be, as
the audience knows the one behind her is a masked guy with a long sharp
knife, and he's almost in striking distance - but it's not until she has
arrived at her doorstep that he finally catches up with her ... Stalk
is basically a really fun horror miniature that plays with horror
clichées to ultimately let everything backfire in a surprise ending - and
it works very well, too, as director Coulombe is obviously well-versed in
how to shoot a stalker sequence, how to create tension and suspense, and
even if the ending comes as an utter surprise, it somehow fits the story,
too. Well worth a watch, especially for genre fans!
