Most of humankind has been exterminated by an extremely deadly and
invectious virus that turns all those infected into zombie.like
creatures. And even our hero (Jackson Monks) has lost his wife
(Emma Monks) in the process, and he has been suffering from survivor's
guilt ever since. And yet, his survival instincts make him fight to
survive yet another day, every day, with the odds against him ever
increasing ... Now sure, The Stillness doesn't
exactly re-invent genre cinema - and apparently isn't intending to, it's
rather delivering a skeletal plotline that dakes it back to the early days
of zombie cinema, when things were still all about survival, without any
"message", hidden meaning or post. modern re-interpretation - and this
approach works, thanks to an economic screenplay, a genre-savvy direction,
and gret backdrops for just the story the film tries to tell. So if you're
at all into zombie cinema and don't expect the re-invention of the wheel,
you'll find yourself greatly entertained.
