Todd (Timothy J. Cox) is pretty much at his wits* end, he has lost his job, is running out of money, and his wife Kate (Diane ;M. Strohm) is threatening to divorce him. And having gone up pretty much every other road, Todd decides to visit a fortune teller (Jay Buchheim) as a last resort. That fortune teller tells him he will get into some money if he keeps looking for the number five, and that his wife will talk to him again, and they'll even share a laugh. Todd thinks the fortune teller's full of shit - until he finds a lottery ticked stuck to his shoe that promises a win of $5 million. Furthermore, his wife calls and agrees to meet him, so apparently wht fortune teller was the real deal, and Todd feels he's on topl of the world again. Problem is, there's more than one way to interpret the fortune tellers predictions ...

Taking a cue or two from (in the best sense possible) old-fashioned short stories, including stringent narrative, macabre details and a surprise twist at the end, this film proves to be a triumph in storytelling, making this work in a run time of under ten minutes, while the narrative doesn't feel lacking in any way. That said, of course the film's also helped by a subtle directorial effort and a flawless cast, all making this a very worthwhile piece of cinema.
