Once he (Felipe Eluti) was a successful boxer, but that was many moons
ago, and since he almot got killed in the ring, he has lost confidence.
Only a shady manager (José Manuel García) still believes in him and gets
him a championship fight - which our hero loses. This results in a violent
attack of self pity which soon turns into self hatred. Enter sadistic
Judas (Garolina Salles), who through torture teaches him to turn his self
hatreed outwards against others. And soon people get picked off the
streets, to later turn up as horribly bruised and mutilated corpses ... Now Visceral: Betweem the Ropes of Madness is definitely
not a film for everyone - it's an unrelenting film that's very inventive
when it comes to its modes of torture and murder, and very unflinching in
thir representation - so it sure helps to be a hardcore horror fan to
enjoy this movie. But tht said, this movie isn't just your typical
mindless gorefest, it has a nihilistic vibe to it tthat makes it even more
shocking but also draws one in all the more, as does itts non-linear
narrative approach - all of which makes this a rther fascinating genre
ride - just definitely not for the faint of heart. |
