Masked wrestler Tiki (Rob 'El Fuego' Etcheverria) is travelling the
country wrestling zombies in cage matches - much to the dismay of masked
wrestling hero Ulysses (Jules Delorme), his masked hothead sidekick Blue
Saint (Raymond Carle) and his masked love interest Mercedes (Jennifer
Thom) ... yet Tiki's zombies seem to be harmless. Then though zombie
attacks occur not far from Tiki's latest venue, and everyone of course
suspects Tiki and his zombies ... until Ulysses can prove everyone wrong.
Actually, masked wrestler Zombie King (Nicholas Sinn) is behind the
attacks, together with his hothead sidekick Murdelizer (Jason
Winn 'J.B. Destiny' Bareford) - who surprisingly enough is not
masked - and his masked love interest French Vixen (Jennifer Deschamps). After
the usual to and fro, the good wrestlers - Ulysses and company featuring
Tiki plus masked wrestler Mr X (Sean K.Robb) - attack the evil wrestlers -
and maybe it should be noted here that Murdelizer killed Blue Saint's
father - and their zombie army, and guess who wins in the end ... Now
masked wrestlers and zombies sounds like an instant winner - but boy what
a crap. I think this was intended as an hommage to the Mexican masked
wrestler (or lucha libre) movies, but actually this is a rare example of
hommage that offers less hindsight that the actual movies it's based on -
and lucha libre films were never big on hindsight to begin with. Actually
all this film is is non actors in masks throwing stilted and clichéd
pieces of dialogue at each other with the occasional wrestling and zombie
scenes thrown in, and a finale that is little more than a tired wrestling
match. Thing is, the whole thing is played totally straight, without the
slightest hint of irony ... and since director Stacey Case shows extremely
little imagination and even less talent for creating atmosphere, this is a
movie as dull as could be. Really nothing more than a waste of time and
money, avoid at all costs.
