As a bunch of cosplayers have turned up dead of late, the police tries
to infiltrate the Lost Cos, the premier cosplayer club in town - but have
no chance to make it past even the lady at the door. One of the most
beloved members of the club is Eni (Evgeniya Radilova), who usually
dresses up as a whip-wielding vampire and as such does hot stage shows
every now and again. She also fights sexism within the cosplayer
community, at times violently so. But she also carries a dark secret,
something that has to do with her now deceased girlfriend (Zoe Vnak) who
introduced her to the cosplaying world back when ... Above
synopsis doesn't do Lost Cos much justice, as it makes it sound
like too much of a straightforward thriller while the film is many things,
from thriller to superhero movie somewhat reminiscent of the Roger Corman
produced Black Scorpion, to
high drama to comedy, and it intentionally every now and again loses
itself in side stories like that of two bumbling cops (Mark McCullough
Thomas, Ross Degraw) in furry costumes, or the one about the Indian
foodtruck owners (Sha Gupta, Siraj Huda) who have set up shop opposite the
Lost Cos - and the result is pretty exhilarating, also because the
film never goes too over-the-top in its humour and features some pretty
exciting and well-staged fight scenes, all played in front of very
colourful cosplay backdrops. Well worth a watch for sure.
